The Bucks County Courier Times editorial board makes a compelling case for a statewide shale tax, noting that, “It’s like a millionaire hitting the lottery. It just doesn’t seem right that energy companies mining natural gas in Pennsylvania, which is bloated with the stuff, essentially are getting a free ride. By that we mean they are not paying a tax on the gas they extract, as they do in every other gas-producing state in the nation.”
